Who does not know the disease tuberculosis (TB)? Disease which makes sufferers were thin due to severe coughing accompanied by blood and sputum is indeed much of Indonesia's population suffered. According to the website of World Health Organization (WHO), not all people exposed to TB bacteria becomes sick. If her immune system strong, bacteria become inactive.

Well, for people who have TB germs are not active (latent TB), are now encouraged to consume a single dose of vitamin D. According to a recent study, vitamin D will increase the body's immunity against disease. "Before the widespread use of antibiotics, vitamin D has long been used to treat tuberculosis," said Dr.. Adrian R. Marineau from Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry, London, England.

Yet until now no studies that evaluated the impact of vitamin D supplementation on TB disease. Marineau and his team so far is conducting clinical trials on a small scale to 192 healthy people who have been exposed to TB germs. Respondents were divided into 2 groups, the first given vitamin D with a dose of 2.5 milligrams, while the other group was given placebo.

Having analyzed six weeks later, the group receiving vitamin D supplements his endurance is better than the placebo group. Based on these findings, Martineau suggested that performed a larger clinical study to determine whether vitamin D can prevent latent TB active.
